Booking, Planning, and Headaches OH MY!
This planning process has been WILD! So I left off last time with my debacle in Italy. I fixed it! So on June 29th I will descend down the hill from San Marino to Rimini. I’ll spend exact one night there at the Sunflower City Backpacker hostel. Overall, the hostel seems unremarkable but the city of Rimini? Gorgeous! I’m really excited, even if it is just a day. (Seen on the right)
Then I’ll catch a super early train to Rome. The train takes me all along the easternmost shore of Italy before diverting back west to Rome. It’s only about a 4-hour trip, so I’ll be in Rome at 11, ready to check into my hostel. As seen above on the left (I know, it’s small!) I’m staying at the Hostel Beauty which is really close to a lot of things! The train station is just a few blocks away. The Parthenon is only a 30-minute walk!
After a few days in Rome, I’ll head north to catch a ferry to Barcelona. Can you guess how long this ferry ride is? I bet you can't….. Twenty-one hours… 21… hours! I’m pretty damn excited! I splurged a little bit and got a room so I can rest and such. I will spend those 21 hours on the MS Cruise Roma (seen below). While I splurged on a room, I did not splurge on one with a window… Once that trip is over it’s time to have some fun in Barcelona! I’m going to stay there for another 3 nights.
Once again, the outside view of the hostel is pretty unremarkable. So here’s a cool overhead shot of Barcelona. You’ll I did mark where my hostel is. Not too badly placed. I’m really excited to see all the cool architecture there. I think the way this city is set up is awesome! Also, I cannot wait to go see the Sagrada Familia. To my fortune, totally unplanned, is only about 30 minutes away on foot!
Now for a bit of bad news... Well, kinda good news for me being smart (or rather Michael for bringing it to me). France is OUT. Their prime minster is up to some communist bullshit, trying to overthrow the democracy and become a dictator. Currently, there is civil unrest, the trash disposal workers have been on strike for 16 days. So, no Paris. In lieu of Paris, I’m just going to add some extra time somewhere else! So instead of Paris, I’ll fly from Barcelona to London.
In London, I’ll be staying at the Hyde Park View Hostel, which is literally just 100 meters away from Hyde Park! So far I have no plans for London. I’ve been to London, YEARS ago. We’re talking about 2004. But this will be my first time by myself and as an adult. I’m sure I can get into plenty of Trouble in London!
That’s it for now! Working with my Aunt to figure out how I’m getting up to Boston. I’ll keep you posted!
